Girls’ Day 2014 at E.ON ERC
This year a group of 13 girls from Aachen and environment attended the "Girls'Day“ at the E.ON Energy Research Center. They passed workshops in the topics "Energieerzeugung, -verbrauch und -einsparung in den Bereichen Elektrotechnik, Maschinenwesen, Georessourcen und Wirtschaftswissenschaften".
The program for the students were led through an intense schedule of experiences to learn more about the challenges of sustainable energy and the need for interdisciplinary work to address such challenges.
The girls research on the basis of geological characteristics.The type of air flow and the velocity of air particles were shown in an experiment with small bubbles at the experiment hall of the E.ON Energy Research Center to the girls. During a quiz, they could prove on the subjects environment, energy saving and renewable energy in consideration their energy knowledge. Furthermore another workshop provided an insight into the future problems of the electrical power supply on the basis of an attractive wind park model.
The fifth institute of the center presented how lemons bring LED's to light.
