Girls'Day 2013 at E.ON ERC
This year, the E.ON Energy Research Center again participated very successfully in “Girl’s Day”. 15 girls from Aachen and beyond got an exciting insight into Energy Research.
As part of the program the students were led through an intense schedule of indoor and outdoor activities to learn more about the challenges of sustainable energy supply and the need for interdisciplinary work to address such challenges. In the outdoor area of the E.ON ERC the girls researched about the principles of geology. In another experiment they analyzed the type of air flow and the velocity of air particles with the help of small bubbles. The challenge of future energy supply was shown with a model of a wind farm. A further section of the E.ON ERC presented how lemons can be used to bring LEDs to light. In the framework of a quiz, the girls could proof their knowledge about environment, energy saving and renewable energy.
