Abstract:
Silicon carbide thyristors can be optically triggered by commercially available UV LEDs, researchers have shown. This result, from collaborating institutions in France and Germany, demonstrates how applications taking advantage of silicon light-triggered thyristors today will also be able to benefit from the use of SiC.
