News
On 2 December 2011, Professor Clauser presented three lectures at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) during the International School on Geothermal Exploration ( http://cdsagenda5.ictp.it/full_display.php?email=0&ida=a10175 ) organized at Trieste (Italy) from 28 November - 5 December 2011 jointly by R. Bertani (ENEL Green Energy, Italy) , D. Chandrasekharam (IIT-Bombay, India) , A. Manzella, (CNR, Italy) , M. Pipan (Univ. of Trieste, Italy), A. Aoudia (ICTP), G. Furlan (ICTP).
GGE officially confirmed as a member in JARA|HPC
On November 2, 2011, GGE has been confirmed official member in JARA|HPC ( http://www.jara.org/de/research/jara-hpc ) which was reshaped from its predecessor JARA|SIM. Membership provides, inter alia, privileged access to high-performance computation (HPC) infrastructure, in particular the earmarked “JARA partition”, at Research Center Jülich (JUGENE - Blue Gene/P Solution @ 294 912 Teraflops – no. 12 in current Top 500 list; JUROPA @ 26 304 Teraflops – no. 25 in current Top 500 list) and RWTH Aachen University (Bullx B500 Cluster @ 25 448 Teraflops – no. 32 in current Top 500 list). This will provide excellent HPC resources for GGE’s numerical, three-dimensional predictive simulations of multi-phase, reactive flow, species and heat transport in geological reservoirs.

April 2011
Christoph Clauser elected member of the German Academy of Sciences.
The German German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina ( www.leopoldina.org/en/academy.html ) is the oldest continuously existing academy of natural sciences and medicine in the world. It was founded as Academia Naturae Curiosorum in the Free Imperial City of Schweinfurt and later named after Emperor Leopold I. Since 1878 it has been seated in Halle/Saale and was appointed Germany's National Academy of Sciences in July 2008. Members are elected among scientists worldwide having distinguished themselves by demonstrating academic excellence. Leopoldina comprises 13 sections in natural sciences and 15 sections in medicine. Christoph Clauser will belong to the section of Geosciences as a member of the sub-section Geophysics/Meteorology.
Cooperating with learned academies in other countries Leopoldina promotes international exchange with regard to topics, such as energy, climate change, or health in joint symposia, reports. or comments in the scientific consultations of the G8-summits of heads of state and governments. Leopoldina represents German scientists in international academy circles and maintains links with scientific institutions in other countries, such as the Royal Society in London, die Académie des Sciences in Paris, die Chinese Academy of Sciences, the U.S. National Academies as well as with the national academies in the G8 countries. It participates in organizing mutual events and cooperates in international bodies, such as the InterAcademy Council (IAC); InterAcademy Panel (IAP); InterAcademy Medical Panel (IAMP); Federation of the European Academies of Medicine (FEAM); Human Rights Committee (HRC).
