Internal Seminar 2011
EBC held its annual internal seminar on 18.–19.07. in Kylburg, Eifel. The program included various interactive workshops. Three separate workshops were held to discuss organizational issues, teaching, and research activities in general. In addition, the latest state of each project carried out by EBC was presented and discussed in detail by the entire group.
As in previous years, the entertainment program started with the evening barbecue, followed by a table tennis tournament and EBC's highly professional table soccer championship and ended with an “after midnight” party.

Peter Matthes speaks at the 18th WaBoLu-Innenraumtage symposium (water, ground, air - indoor days symposium) in Berlin about hybrid ventilation systems for school buildings.
Energy Engineering Day
As part of the introduction to the specialisation Energy Engineering bachelor students visited the EBC test hall.
They learned about current research areas of our institute and they visited different test facilities at EBC.
3rd International Workshop on Aircraft System Technologies
Prof. Müller speaks at the AST 2001 - 3rd International Workshop on Aircraft System Technologies - on the topic of "Application of a Displacement Ventilation System for Air Distribution in Aircraft Cabins".
Participation at RWTH HALLENFUSSBALL CUP
The center team „ERC Energielücke“ will participate at the RWTH indoor soccer cup on Saturday, 26th of March, where we are going to dramatically improve on last year's 3rd place.
Karneval at the EBC
The beginning of the age-old custom of Karneval, the fifth season of the year, was dutifully celebrated at the EBC. Under the theme "Snow White and the 20 dwarfs", the staff was singing, dancing and swaying until the sun went down...
Results Klimatechnik Exam
The results of the Klimatechnik exam are published at the bill-board of the institute.
The review takes place on Thursday, 24th of February at 9 o’clock A.M. in room 0.11, Mathieustraße 6.
Modelica - Szenarien zukünftiger Energieversorgungsstrukturen
Prof. Müller holds a speech titled "Ganzheitliche Ansätze mit Modelica" at the informative event concerning the DVGW-innovation campaign.
Gebäude der Zukunft
Prof. Müller holds a speech at the research symposium "Gebäude der Zukunft", titled "Gebäude- und Anlagensimulation: Objektorientierte Simulation mit Modelica", and he takes part in the panel discussion "Das Nur-Strom-Haus als Zukunftsmodell?".
8th International Conference on System Simulation in Buildings
Michael Adolph and Kristian Huchtemann attend the conference on system simulation in buildings. It takes place every four years and is organised by the Thermodynamics Laboratory of the University of Liege, Belgium.
KRdL-Expertenforum "Gerüche im Innenraum"
Am 25. November findet in Bonn das erste Expertenforum der "Kommision Reinhaltung der Luft im VDI und DIN-Normenausschuss" KRdL im Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit statt.
Prof. Müller wird dort einen Vortrag zum Thema "Geruchsarme Baumaterialien für energieeffiziente Gebäude" halten und später auch die Podiumsdiskussion moderieren.
DKV Congress
The EBC presents its latest research results at the "Deutsche Kälte-Klima-Tagung" in Berlin (18. - 20. Nov.):
In this years student's session, Pooyan Jahangri presents his diploma thesis "Simulation and Comparison of Different District Heating Networks in Combination with Cogeneration Plants".
Patentreffen
Prof. Müller met his "Patengruppe" of the WS 10/11. The idea of the "Patenschaftsmodell" of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering being that the new students get a benefit in their first semester so that they can have a better start at the university.
Innovative Ventilation Technologies
Peter Matthes gives a speech at an experts' meetings event "Lüftung 2010 - Antworten zur DIN 1946-6" (Ventilation 2010 - Standard DIN 1946-6 Explained, see flyer) organized by the Aachen city information office "altbau plus". His topic is "Innovative Ventilation Technologies - Examples from R&D".
This experts' meetings aims to clarify specific topics regarding the newly issued German industry standard DIN 1946 part 6. Since May 2009 a ventilation concept is explicitly required for newly built houses or old-building renovations. The basics of natural and mechanical ventilation in different forms will be presented to the audience. Additionally, a software tool will be presented at the meeting to assist the HVAC expert in this context.
Series of lectures "Smart Energy"
The institute "Gebäudetechnik" at the faculty for architecture, RWTH Aachen University, starts its annual series of lectures "Smart Energy" on October 27th.
Airbus PhD Day
Rita Streblow was honoured as one of the best speakers at the Airbus PhD Day on October 21st, presenting her work on "Thermal Sensation and Comfort Model for Inhomogeneous Indoor Environments".
"Improved Learning in Energy Efficient School Buildings"
Inga Eggers gives a speech at the Workshop Eneff:School "Improved Learning in Energy Efficient School Buildings".
The concomitant project of the research project "Energy Efficient School (EnEff:School)", which is promoted by Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology within the budget of advanced concept "Energy Optimized Building (EnOB)", is aimed at collecting and presenting all activities on the field of energy efficient school retrofit.
EBC-Excursion
On October 1st, the EBC staff went on its annual excursion:
This year's trip started with a visit at the Trox-site in Neukirchen-Vluyn, then it went off heading to Düsseldorf. There, the "Plus-Energiehaus" was thoroughly examinded before the day was brought to an end with a boat ride on the rhine and a short detour into the Old Town of Düsseldorf.
