In December 2009, the 1.000 m2-large test hall of E.ON ERC was completed. The test hall was officially inaugurated in March 2010. This hall has 750 m2 of space available for the Institute EBC to test and further develop, e.g., micro-CHP systems, building facades or climatization of airplane cabins and electric vehicles. Next to a 250 m2 clean room facility to build power semiconductors, PGS has 250 m2 of high-power laboratory space for testing 5 MW DC-DC converters and high-speed machines in the test hall. Moreover, the real-time simulator of the institute ACS is linked to both laboratories via high-speed glass-fiber optic cables to offer Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing capabilities. In addition, a unique high-pressure and high-temperature laboratory has been set up by the institute GGE to measure the diffusion of water and CO2 under realistic conditions. Furthermore, the institute FCN is developing a laboratory for investigating consumer behavior.
